This Pumpkin Spice Latte is made with pure pumpkin puree and warm spices, and it’s the perfect fall drink. It also takes no time to whip up, and it’s much cheaper than one from the coffee shop.

Pumpkin Spice Latte.

When the leaves start falling, and there’s a chill in the air, that means it’s Pumpkin Spice Latte season.

Peak fall foliage is here, and there’s soon to be some frost on the pumpkin. That being said, when you get a craving for your favorite PSL, you don’t have to get in your car and drive a few miles to get one. You can make your own at home. So easy!

Ingredients

Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients.

Pumpkin Puree – Make sure to use pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling from a can.

Pumpkin Pie Spice – You can use store bought pumpkin pie spice or make your own and store in an airtight container. The amounts below will make plenty for up to 6 drinks.

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground ginger

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Granulated Sugar – You only need a small amount of sugar.

Pure Vanilla Extract – Use the real stuff, not imitation.

Strong Coffee or Espresso – If you don’t have espresso, make sure your coffee is very strong.

Milk – I used 2% milk, but any milk will work.

Whipped Cream – It’s easier to use it from a can instead of making your own, since you don’t need much.

What to do with leftover pumpkin

You might be lucky enough to already have some leftover pumpkin puree from making another recipe with pumpkin, but if you’re not that lucky, you’ll have to open a can. Don’t worry though. If you don’t know what to do with the rest of the can, here’s what you can do. Drop tablespoons of the puree onto a parchment lined baking sheet, and place in a freezer until frozen. Then remove them from the parchment paper and transfer to a freezer bag and freeze. When you want a pumpkin latte, simply remove one from the bag.

How to make

In a small saucepan, mix together the pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice. Mix over medium-low heat for a few seconds. Add the milk and sugar, and mix to combine. Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently, and remove from the heat.

Pour the mixture through a strainer and return to the saucepan. Add the coffee or espresso and the vanilla. Simmer for two minutes and remove from heat.

Pour into a latte cup, and use a frother to froth the milk mixture.
